The story After 15 years in medicine — a decade of it in the ER — I came to clinical medicine through an unusual door. Before I ever stepped into an ER, I was a staff writer at BioCentury — covering drugs in the development pipeline, the science behind them, and the companies racing to bring them to patients. That background taught me how to read primary literature, separate signal from marketing, and ask harder questions of every claim. It’s a lens I still bring to every patient I see. After completing my master’s at MCPHS, I spent more than a decade on the front lines of emergency medicine. I kept seeing the same thing: people who walked into the ER convinced they were healthy — no medications, no diagnoses, no warning signs anyone had ever flagged. They left with four or five prescriptions they would take for the rest of their life. A stroke. A cardiac event. A metabolic crisis that had been building quietly for years while their annual labs came back “normal” and their doctor had ten minutes to not notice. That’s not a failure of individual providers. It’s what chronic 10-minute appointments and reactive medicine produce. I built Nuu Metabolic because there had to be something better — care that looks ahead, not just at the crisis in front of it. |

About the name Nuu means renewal. The name reflects what every patient is really after — not a quick fix, not a number on a scale, but a different relationship with their own health. A new chapter, built on what their body actually needs at this stage of life. |
