We prescribe brand-name FDA-approved medications only, with prior authorization support included in your membership.

Nuu Metabolic is a licensed Illinois telehealth practice serving adults 18+ in Illinois. All visits are via secure HIPAA-compliant video. We do not serve patients outside Illinois at this time.

Because care is delivered by secure telehealth video, you can see Urooj from anywhere in the state — including Chicago and the greater Chicagoland area, the North Shore, Lake County, Gurnee, and communities statewide. You must be physically located in Illinois at the time of your visit.

Schedule your initial visit directly through our booking page. The initial consultation is $99, non-refundable, and is credited in full toward your first month if you enroll during the visit. You'll meet with Urooj to review your history, confirm GLP-1 eligibility, and choose a plan. A prescription is not guaranteed.

FDA guidelines support GLP-1 prescribing for adults with BMI ≥ 30, or BMI ≥ 27 with a weight-related condition — high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, or sleep apnea. BMI alone does not determine eligibility. Contraindications include personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2 syndrome. Final eligibility is determined at your clinical visit.

Urooj will explain the clinical reasoning and outline what would need to change. You leave with a clear picture regardless. No prescription is guaranteed.

Nuu Guide ($79 one-time) — self-guided GLP-1 resource. Nuu Rx ($149/month, cancel anytime) — monthly visits with Urooj, prescription management, dose oversight, prior auth support. Nuu Total ($249/month, cancel anytime) — adds personalized nutrition and protein targets, strength training guidance, monthly progress reviews, and plateau troubleshooting. Medication, labs, and pharmacy costs always billed separately.

Membership covers all provider time: visits, prescription management, titration, prior authorization, and secure messaging. Medication, lab work, and pharmacy fees are billed directly through your pharmacy.

GLP-1 therapy is ongoing for most patients. You continue on your plan as long as it is clinically appropriate. Urooj will discuss long-term planning — including dose reduction or discontinuation — at the 90-day mark.

Nuu membership is cash-pay and is not billed to insurance. Medication is separate. Brand-name GLP-1s may be covered by your health plan when prior authorization is approved, but coverage is never guaranteed — many employer plans exclude anti-obesity medication outright, and Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Rybelsus are generally covered only against diabetes criteria. Some commercially insured patients pay $0–$25/month through manufacturer savings programs; these have eligibility limits and typically exclude anyone on Medicare or Medicaid. Without coverage, brand-name GLP-1 medications generally run $900–$1,400/month.

Prior authorization is your insurer’s review before a medication is covered. Most Illinois commercial plans require documented BMI, weight-related conditions, and prior treatment attempts. Urooj prepares and submits the documentation and responds to insurer requests. If a request is denied, she will review the denial reason with you and file an appeal where there is a clinical basis to do so. Approval is decided entirely by your health plan and is not guaranteed.

Brand-name, FDA-approved medications only. Approved for chronic weight management: Wegovy (semaglutide, weekly injection), Zepbound (tirzepatide, weekly injection), and Foundayo (orforglipron, daily oral tablet, approved April 2026). Approved for type 2 diabetes and prescribed off-label for weight when clinically appropriate: Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Rybelsus. We do not prescribe compounded GLP-1 medications. Which medication is appropriate for you is determined at your clinical visit, and a prescription is not guaranteed.

Yes, many patients come to Nuu from compounded GLP-1. At your visit, Urooj reviews your current dose and history and, when clinically appropriate, transitions you to a brand-name FDA-approved option (Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro, or Rybelsus) with prior authorization support. We prescribe brand-name medications only and do not continue or prescribe compounded GLP-1. Any transition is individualized at your clinical visit, and a prescription is not guaranteed.

Yes. Foundayo is Eli Lilly’s once-daily oral GLP-1, FDA-approved on April 1, 2026 for adults with obesity, or overweight with at least one weight-related condition. It is the first non-peptide GLP-1, so it is taken as an ordinary tablet with no food or water timing restrictions. In the ATTAIN-1 trial, participants on the highest dose who stayed on treatment lost an average of 12.4% of body weight at 72 weeks. Foundayo carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors and is not appropriate for everyone. Eligibility is determined at your clinical visit.

No. Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Rybelsus are FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes. Wegovy, Zepbound, and Foundayo are approved for chronic weight management. Clinicians may prescribe a medication off-label when it is clinically appropriate and legally permitted — this is legal, common, and evidence-guided in medicine. Which medication is right for you, and whether an off-label option makes sense, is decided at your clinical visit.

No. The membership is a cash-pay clinical service. Some patients use FSA or HSA funds. The medication goes through your pharmacy and insurance once authorized.

Most patients notice reduced appetite within 1–2 weeks. Measurable weight changes begin around weeks 4–8. Clinical trials showed ~15% body weight reduction with semaglutide (STEP-1) and ~22.5% with tirzepatide (SURMOUNT-1) at 68–72 weeks with clinical oversight. Individual results vary.

Most common: nausea, mild GI upset, and fatigue — typically during dose increases, manageable with slower titration. Rare but serious: pancreatitis, gallbladder disease. Theoretical thyroid tumor risk from rodent data, not confirmed in humans at approved doses. Screened at initial visit and monitored throughout.

No. GLP-1 medications are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and current guidance is to stop the medication before trying to conceive. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy, tell Urooj — this is reviewed at your initial visit and throughout your care.

Not necessarily. Some patients use GLP-1 for 12–18 months and discontinue after reaching their goal. Others benefit from ongoing low-dose maintenance. Weight often returns after stopping without solid lifestyle foundations — which is why Nuu Total incorporates nutrition and strength frameworks.

Muscle loss is a real risk without adequate protein intake. Nuu Total includes personalized protein targets (1.0–1.2g per pound of goal body weight) and resistance training guidance. Urooj covers muscle preservation at every visit regardless of plan.

Yes. The SELECT trial (2023) demonstrated significant cardiovascular risk reduction with semaglutide. Tirzepatide shows strong effects on insulin sensitivity, A1C, triglycerides, and blood pressure. Emerging evidence points to benefits in metabolic liver disease and sleep apnea.

All visits are HIPAA-compliant video through Healthie. Initial visit: intake, eligibility, medication discussion, plan selection. Monthly follow-ups: dose titration, side effects, lab review, progress. Every visit is with Urooj directly.
